Wanted to buy one of this,

GPS tracker to track your car if it's get stolen.
Almost same thing can be done with your Windows Mobile phone with built-in GPS receiver.
A freeware called TrackMe. Try it, you'll love it.
Lots of function i.e. live tracking, geofence etc.
I'll review the software on the next post.

Got Nokia phone with bluetooth?

Then just download and install Ovi Maps software and Malaysia map FREE from Nokia website.
For those who doesn't have built-in gps phone, you can buy a bluetooth gps receiver and pair it with your phone.
Using bluetooth gps receiver, you can turn your phone to a gps with turn-by-turn navigation.

How to Install Garmin Mobile XT on Windows Mobile

1. Connect your device with your computer. Make sure your computer detect the device.

2. Download and run this file.

3. Select "Setup" and select "(Windows Mobile) Storage Card" in the selection area

Click install

4. Now, repeat the same step with these files

5. An autorun message will pop-up in your device. If not, go to "File Explorer" and browse to your Storage Card and locate a folder named "2577". Tap on the file inside the folder, "autorun.exe".

6. Select "Yes" and follow the on screen instruction to install the software.

7. After finish installing, run the application.

8. There should be four options in the starting screen. Choose the fourth option, "Connect to a Garmin GPS".

*Note that when you choose this option, Garmin Mobile XT can only detect Garmin Bluetooth GPS Receiver and not any other bluetooth gps receiver or your device built-in gps receiver. Don't worry about this, we'll fix this later on.

9. Skip the bluetooth scanning.

10. Select "Prompted" for Garmin Online access" and tap "OK".

11. If this error pop-up, just tap "No".

12. Select Tools (spanner icon) > Settings > About

13. Write down "Card ID" number.

14. Tap "Back" until you reach the main menu and exit the application properly (don't just tap the X button at the top right corner but select Exit from the main menu instead).

15. Now, download this file.

16. Extract and run the file inside, "garmin_kgen.exe".

17. In the "Card ID" section, write down the number obtained from your device.

18. Select "Garmin Mobile XT"

19. And click "Generate" button at the middle (not at the bottom).

20. Copy the generated code and paste it in Notepad.

21. In Notepad, select File > Save.

22. In the "File name" section, type "SW.UNL" (without the quote)

23. In the "Save as type" section, select "All Files" (this step is very IMPORTANT, people usually missed this and end up with the application cannot detect their non-garmin bluetooth gps receiver or built-in gps receiver).

Click the "Save" button.

24. Now, copy the saved file into your "Garmin" folder inside your storage card.

25. You also need to download this file for Malaysia map. Credit goes to www.malfreemaps.com for their effort to produce weekly-updated-Malaysia map.

27. Run the application again and voila, Garmin Mobile XT should now recognised your gps receiver.
